The Covington Equine Association will hold the first annual Be Mine Valentine Dance and Dinner Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Covington Center Arena.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and the Ashley Morgan Band and DJ will provide entertainment for the evening beginning at 8 p.m. Requested attire for the event is Western. There will be a barbecue vendor on site. Payments will be made to Southbound Barbecue. Concert admission is $20 for adults and $5 for kids.

All event proceeds will go to the Regina Short Memorial Fund and Mentor Program.

“Regina had a huge place in her heart for the future cowgirls and cowboys. Through this program, a mentor will take a child under their wing. They will teach them trust, enrichment, teamwork, safety, and how to be a role model to others. Horses aid in building self-confidence and trust. These characteristics over time will allow the kids in the program to grow up as fierce leaders within their communities. This program will go hand in hand with the Regina Short Memorial Fund,” a release stated.

The Covington Equine Association established the memorial fund for underprivileged children in the equine community. The fund will be used to supply children with helmets, tack, lessons, and the knowledge they need to create a safe and fun equine environment.

“Regina joined the CEA Board to help bring joy to our children in the local community. Help us honor Regina and her daughter Christen by helping those who may not have the support they need to succeed in the equine world. If you know of a child that may need support, please contact us.”
