Joseph J. Hart, 52, was in the roadway when he was fatally injured when he was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Connie L. Qualls, 51, of Dozier. Hart was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:17 p.m. near the 136-mile marker on U.S. Hwy. 84, approximately four miles east of Andalusia. The incident led to lane closures on the westbound lanes of U.S. 84 near Cliff Meredith Road. The road was re-opened at 10:28 p.m. on Friday night.
