Investigation rules March 4 death of Opp man as homicide

The Opp Police Department received a report from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences on Friday that the cause of death of Kelvin Burks has been ruled a homicide.

Police were called to a residence on the 2300 block of W. Cummings Avenue on Saturday, March 4, at approximately 12:55 p.m. after receiving a call of a possible deceased male. Upon arriving, police found Burks, 41, of Opp deceased in the kitchen of the home.

Opp Criminal Investigators in conjunction with the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Covington County District Attorney’s Office have worked around the clock and investigated this case to determine who is responsible.
