The Andalusia Star-News would like to welcome Jakelyn Carter to its staff as a multimedia marketing specialist.

Jakelyn Carter

Carter is a native of Andalusia and a 2011 alumna of Andalusia High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Troy University in Communications with a minor in Public Relations in 2020.

“I am ready for this new experience and very excited about putting my communications degree to use. I am looking forward to helping businesses in my community grow by providing marketing strategies and advertising solutions. My goals while working for the Andalusia Star-News include growing my knowledge and skills in marketing and expanding my experience in marketing and journalism,” Carter said.

Carter’s first day at the Star-News was Monday, March 20. She is the mother of two young sons, 8-year-old Major, and 2-year-old Mazi. Major is a second-grade student at Straughn Elementary School.

“We are excited to have Jakelyn as part of the Star-News team,” said Publisher Robert Blankenship. “As an Andalusia native, she is familiar with the values of our community and businesses. Her background and education will be a valuable asset to our advertising customers as we continue to help them navigate the many possibilities available through digital marketing. I am confident that Jakelyn will do a great job and prove to be many local businesses’ go-to contact for all of their marketing needs, whether those needs are online, in print, or both.”

Advertising manager Ruck Ashworth is excited about Carter joining the ASN team. “We would like to welcome Jakelyn to the Star-News and look forward to working with her as well as the contributions she will make to our team, our community, and to our customers.”
