Straughn Middle School rising seventh grader Ally Eubanks is 12 years old with a creative mind and enjoys making arts and crafts in the form of beaded bracelets for others.
She is also involved with the volleyball and basketball teams at SMS. After receiving a bracelet making kit from her grandparents for Christmas last year, Ally decided to use her creative skills and try her hand at putting bracelets together.
“I have always enjoyed making different crafts. I wanted to make friendship bracelets for my friends,” Ally said. “I enjoy being able to be creative and come up with different designs and patterns. It makes my friends and family happy when I am able to give them one.”
Ally started out making bracelets for family and friends a year ago. When that was successful, she spoke to her mother about making them for those around her community.
“I wanted to post a few for sale on my mom’s Facebook page. Since that post, I have made and had orders for around 40 bracelets. I did not expect my bracelet making to take off so quickly,” she said.
Most of the beads she uses to make the bracelets are ordered through Amazon or purchased at Walmart or Hobby Lobby. For her, the process of making a bracelet is simple.
“First, I lay out the design I want to make. Then, I string the beads and measure to make sure I have the correct size. I can then add or take away any beads. Once I have it the correct size, I tie the ends together and am finished with one bracelet. I really enjoy expressing my creative side and making all different kinds of bracelets,” Ally said.
With orders coming in more frequently, Ally has decided to save the money she raises and keep it in her savings account.
“It is really fun to make these bracelets for other people and has kept me busy. It also makes me feel good when people say they love them, and I see them wear the bracelet I created. I’m grateful to my parents and grandparents who have helped me buy the things I need to make the bracelets. My mom helps me make them sometimes, too,” she said.
Ally is the daughter of Josh and Eubanks and granddaughter of Wesley and Vanessa Jeffcoat and Mike and Joan Eubanks. She has three younger siblings: Liam, 10, Annabeth, 6, and Abram, 2.
“I have really enjoyed helping and watching Ally make these bracelets. She is a very creative person, and I love seeing her shine with the talents the Lord has given her. We had no idea that so many would be interested in her bracelets,” her mother Alison said.
Alison added that her daughter’s bracelet making has helped her grow more.
“This has given her a boost of confidence. I am so proud of this girl and all she does. On top of spending a ton of time making bracelets, she has had basketball and volleyball practices. Ally is a great, hard-working young lady,” she said.
