Florala reaches area championship with lopsided win against Emmanuel Christian

Florala erupted with a huge start and never blinked on the way to an 86-20 win over Emmanuel Christian in the 1A Area 2 Boys Tournament semi-finals at home on Saturday, Feb. 1.
The Wildcats won their tenth straight game and pushed their season record to 16-1, while the Warriors ended the season at 0-14.
Elijah McMeans was on fire in the opening frame and scored 16 points. Dalton Jackson followed with six points, while Jeremiah Stone drained a three-pointer. Jayden Bradberry and Noah Bryan scored four apiece. Florala held Emmanuel Christian scoreless and took a 33-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Weston Champion and MJ McIntyre delivered threes in the second period as the Warriors finally dented the scoreboard. Kaiden Scott went one-for-two from the foul line. Ayden Brooks and Julius Davis found the hoop twice as Greyson Allen scored a bucket. Preston Truman added two free throws as the Wildcats took a 45-7 lead at halftime.
Seven different home players scored right after the break led by Brooks who collected six points. Uriah Mathews, Davis, and Allen each had four, while Gage Davis made a three and Truman posted two. McIntyre chipped in seven more with a pair of threes and one-for-four showing at the foul line for Emmanuel Christian. Florala held a 70-17 lead at the end of the third period.
Bradberry, Truman, and Davis all scored four in the final period. Bryan and Brooks collected two as the Wildcats held the Warriors to a three from Champion.
McMeans tallied 16 points for Florala, while Brooks and Davis also contributed double-digit performances at 12 apiece. Bradberry and Truman both earned eight points. McIntyre paced Emmanuel Christian with 10 points and was followed by Champion who had nine.
The Wildcats will square off with Pleasant Home for a third time this season in the area championship game on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m.
