The Andalusia Coterie Club will see the return of its 52nd annual Storybook Festival on Saturday, March 1, and be held at a location it used several years ago.
The Storybook Festival is free to attend and will be held at Robinson Park in Andalusia. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. before stories begin at 11 a.m.
“The Storybook Festival is Coterie’s give back to the community event and our way of helping promote reading. Each year, we love holding this event and getting to see all of the children enjoy these stories. Reading and the interaction are both very important to our children who are the future of our community,” Fundraising Chair Mellisa King said.
There will be interactive stories, arts and crafts, a bounce house, and special performances by the Troy University Pied Pipers. Concessions will also be available at the event.
“We will have our usual stories and a traditional play performed by the Coterie Club. This year, we are pleased to welcome the Pied Pipers back to Andalusia who will be joining us and performing most of the stories. We are excited to go back to Robinson Park,” Storybook Festival Chair Destiny Smith said.
Sponsors are still needed to help support funding for the event for $200 per sponsor.
Formed at Troy University in 1970, the Pied Pipers have toured throughout the region performing at schools and events. Performers are dressed in colorful costumes and help tailor their shows to grab the attention span of children.
