Covington County BOE approves three personnel matters

The Covington County Board of Education approved three personnel matters during a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 3.

During the meeting the board approved:

Resignations

  • Endsley Givhan Bolen as special education teacher at Red Level School retroactive to March 1
  • Tracy Bowen as general social science teacher at Straughn Middle School effective March 31

Leave of Absence

  • Granting a medical leave of absence with benefits under the Family and Medical Leave Act for the months of March, April, and May 2025 to Casherria Faye Sims, elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School

The board also approved a budget amendment for fiscal year 2025.

“This budget amendment was just a matter of including our federal carryover dollars and making adjustments to our upcoming projects,” Chief School Finance Officer Ressie Gray said.

In other business, the board heard a distribution of financial reports that have been reconciled to most current bank statements from Gray.

The board set the next meeting date for Tuesday, April 1, 5:30 p.m., at the central office.
