On Wednesday, April 30, the City of Andalusia, in partnership with the Covington Veterans Foundation, will honor Vietnam veterans on the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon.

A ceremony is planned at 4 p.m. at the Covington Veterans monument. Following the short ceremony, Vietnam veterans and their families are invited to enjoy a light meal with music from the Three Notch Ramblers, who will perform music from the era.

A group of Vietnam veterans from the Montgomery chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, led by Opp native Jessie Donaldson, will also speak with students in area schools that day.

The Covington Veterans Foundation also has published a magazine that includes a collection of interviews of Vietnam veterans previously published in the Andalusia Star-News. This magazine is included in the Saturday, April 26 print edition of the Star-News, and will be available at Wednesday’s ceremony.
