Barbara C. May, 71, passed away April 27, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida.
She was born March 2, 1954, in the Territory of Alaska to John Greene Snowden of Andalusia and his wife, Bobbie Lee Phillips Snowden.
Barbara grew up and attended school in Andalusia. Following her marriage, she lived for a time in Okinawa, Japan, where her son, Stephen, was born. She earned an A.S. from Alvin Community College in Texas. Upon moving to Quincy, Florida, in the summer of 1984, Barbara worked for Creek Electric as a contract administrator and earned an A.A. from Florida State University.
Barbara later worked for the State of Florida for 25 years, retiring in March of 2014 as an Adjudicator for the Division of Disability Determination.
Barbara was preceded in death by both of her beloved husbands, Stephen Fruzan Sr., who was also father to her only son, and Lucian Mitchell May, as well as both her parents, and her two brothers, John Sidney Snowden and Jeff Alexander Snowden.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Fruzan and wife, Melissa; her sister, Norma Charlean Snowden, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Barbara maintained a level of class and elegance that was unmatched. She loved animals and had many cherished pets during her life.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Quincy, Florida, with interment at Old Philadelphia Church Cemetery.
