Danny “Joe” Sanders, a longtime resident of Andalusia, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 75.
Joe lived most of his life in Andalusia, where he owned several local businesses. He had a witty sense of humor and could make anybody laugh. Later in life, he developed a love for the open road. As long as he was able, he traveled to every corner of the United States, and into parts of Canada, appreciating the beauty of each state and its national parks. Once, he drove all the way to the state of Washington just to enjoy some in-season Rainier cherries.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will not be a formal service, and his ashes will be spread by loved ones. In lieu of a service, we ask that you think of Joe whenever Alabama scores a touchdown, or when you roll down the window during a beautiful drive.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Angie Sanders and Amy Spencer, and their families, including five grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Jan Barron, and her family, with whom he remained especially close. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Ray Sanders, his family, and many beloved nieces and nephews, the children of his late brothers, Bob and Donald Sanders. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Kenneth Sanders of Andalusia.
