Those interested in seeking a political office within the City of Andalusia will be allowed to qualify beginning June 10 and continuing through June 24. The city election will be Tuesday, August 26.

The seats to be decided in the citywide election include the mayor’s office, all city council seats, and board of education seats for Dist. 2 and Dist. 4. A runoff, if necessary, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Potential candidates can qualify at the city clerk’s office, located on the third floor of Andalusia City Hall, where packets will be available throughout the qualifying time frame.

Salaries for municipal officials in the next quadrennium, which begins November 2025, are:

  • $450 biweekly for council members with supplemental pay of $250 per month for those who have completed the coursework as a certified municipal official.
  • $3,000 bi-weekly for the mayor ($78,000 per year)

The above pay represents salary increases approved by the city council last year. When approved, Mayor Earl Johnson stated the increase is only the third in 27 years with the council voting for increases in 2007, 2018 and 2024.
