AHS Scholarship Foundation names 2025 Outstanding Graduates

Mayor Earl Johnson, who chairs the Outstanding Graduate Committee of the Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation, has announced the 2025 recipients of this distinguished award.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Dr. Susan Jones Ashbee, Class of 1969, a retired pediatrician who does medical mission trips twice each year to Africa.
  • Dr. Mitchell Brantley, Class of 1992, an emergency room physician who does medical missions to Haiti.
  • Robert Lee, Class of 1983, who is retired from the U.S. Forest Service and who has helped secure funding for the forestry program at LBW and recruit students into the field.
  • Lori Bryant Morgan, Class of 1986, who practices law in Nashville. She is a graduate of Harvard Law, where she edited the Harvard International Law Journal.
  • Dr. Daniel Shakespeare, Class of 1975, who is the longest serving principal of Andalusia High School and the current superintendent of schools.
  • Don Sharpe, Class of 1960, the storied football coach who led the Bulldogs in the 1970s.

The Foundation also will posthumously honor Miss Annalee Simmons, Class of 1925, and Miss Clyde Simmons, Class of 1922. Both taught for decades in the city school system.

Homecoming is set for Sept. 26, 2025.
