The Covington County IRT held training exercises Thursday, May 1, at the Wilbur Williams Law Enforcement Training Center as they prepare to participate in the annual Anthony Forgione Memorial SWAT Competition held by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office later this month.
IRT Commander Josh Hudson said the competition includes physical fitness, marksmanship and sniper events.
The IRT is composed of members of the police departments and Andalusia, Opp and Florala, as well as the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s Office.
Hudson expressed his appreciation to each of the departments for allowing members to participate. He said the training session capped off a long day for IRT members, who started their day with a 6 a.m. search warrant in Opp.
