After staying alive with a split, Straughn dropped a tough game to Satsuma, 8-2, despite nine hits, and ended the year at the 4A South Regional this week.

Straughn 2, Satsuma 8
In an elimination game, Satsuma started with four runs in the bottom of the first and took a 4-0 lead after one inning.

Callie Ann McVay led off the second with a double. Jaycee Norton followed with a single, and courtesy runner Layla Walker scored the first Straughn run when McKena Bailey hit a sacrifice fly.

The Lady Gators threatened in their half with two hits, but the Lady Tigers flashed the leather and turned the first of their two double plays on the day to keep the score 4-1 after two innings.

Annlee Wise opened the top of the third with a single and moved to second when Sophie Pettus grounded out. A passed ball sent Wise to third, and Adalyn Till drove home Wise on an RBI groundout, cutting the score to 4-2. Satsuma battled for two runs and widened its lead to 6-2 after three innings.

A two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth pushed the margin to 8-2 after four innings. Pitching settled down on both sides as neither team scored again, and the game came to an end.

Wise went 2-for-4, and Bailey was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Till, Brinlee Taylor, McVay, Norton, and Katelyn Ranta were all 1-for-3, and Adelaide Dunn finished 1-for-4. Norton threw six innings and allowed eight runs (six earned) on 14 hits with two strikeouts.

Straughn finished the season with a 20-20 record and was the area runner-up.
