Andalusia High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2025 are Kinsley Stovall and Graycie Sansom, respectively.
Both graduates were grateful to represent their senior class with these academic honors.
“It means a lot to me to represent my class as valedictorian. It’s an honor to speak on behalf of the people I’ve grown with and to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together,” Stovall said.
“Being salutatorian is a tremendous honor that reflects the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my education. It means a lot to represent my classmates and celebrate everything we’ve achieved together. I’m proud to stand before them and share in this important moment as we look ahead to the future,” Sansom said.
Stovall plans to attend Auburn University in the fall and major in Biomedical Sciences.
“I chose biomedical sciences because I’ve always been passionate about science and helping others. This major is a strong foundation for a future in healthcare, and it aligns with my goal of becoming an orthodontist. I want to make a difference in people’s lives through both science and service,” she said.
Sansom also plans to attend Auburn University in the fall and major in Aerospace Engineering.
“I’ve always been fascinated by space, flight, and the idea of pushing boundaries. Aerospace engineering combines my love for science and innovation, and my dream is to one day work for NASA in their mission control room. I want to be part of the team that makes space exploration possible and helps shape the future,” she said.
Both Stovall and Sansom agreed that being involved in school activities and engaging with their peers were the two most enjoyable parts of their time at AHS.
“The most enjoyable part of being a student at AHS was the sense of community. Whether it was cheering at football games, participating in school events, or just spending time with friends and teachers who truly care, the support and school spirit made every moment more meaningful,” Stovall said.
“The most enjoyable part was participating in the ‘A Sound Tradition’ Marching Band. I made the closest friends and best memories playing in the band on Friday nights. Recently, we marched in the Fiesta Flambeau Parade in San Antonio, Texas, which made the most memorable ending to my time with the band,” Sansom said.
While Stovall and Sansom were excited about graduation, they shared similar memories from their time in high school they will take into the next chapter of their lives.
“What I’ll miss most about being a student at my high school is the everyday moments with people who have been part of my life for years. Those moments include the laughs in the hallway, the familiar routines, and the connections with teachers and classmates who have shaped who I am,” Stovall said.
“I’ll miss the familiar faces, the daily routines, and the comfort of being part of a close community. It’s been my second home for the past four years, and I’ll especially miss my teachers and friends who pushed me to be my best and believed in my goals,” Sansom said.
Both are ready to take on the real world and see what lies ahead in the future.
“I’m looking forward to the independence and new opportunities that come with entering the real world. It’s exciting to take everything I’ve learned and start building a life that reflects my goals, values, and passions. In the next five to 10 years, I hope to be making a positive impact in people’s lives, building strong relationships with patients, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally,” Stovall said.
“I’m looking forward to gaining more independence, meeting new people, and starting the journey toward my career. I’m excited about the challenges ahead and the chance to apply what I learn in college to something meaningful, especially in a field as inspiring as aerospace. In five to 10 years, I hope to be working at NASA or a major aerospace company, possibly in mission control. I want to be a part of a team that handles real space missions and supports astronauts. I also hope to keep learning and growing – personally and professionally – while doing something I’m passionate about,” Sansom said.
Kinsley is the daughter of Justin and Ashley Stovall. She has an older brother, Hugh Wallace Stovall.
“My family has been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout my journey,” Stovall said.
Graycie is the daughter of Buffy and Brad Sansom. She has three siblings, Jax Sansom, Stella Sansom, and Maddie Sansom.
“My parents have always been my biggest supporters. My siblings keep life interesting and fun and look up to me, which motivates me to keep pushing forward,” Sansom said.
