A ribbon cutting took place May 2 at 10037 Ellis Ave. in River Falls, bringing together residents, members of the town council, and representatives of various donors.

Mayor Patricia Gunter welcomed everyone and provided background information about how the park started and how it came to fruition. She expressed gratitude to the Bill and Barbara McClain family and Linda Flowers for the donation of the land where the park is located. She also thanked the Dixon Foundation, Estep Foundation, Covington County Commission, Covington County Soil and Water Conservation, and Wiregrass RC&D for the monetary donations and in-kind services provided.

After a brief time of fellowship, the group moved to Firehouse Road to have another ribbon-cutting ceremony for the town’s new walking trail. This was an RTP Project, and funds were provided by River Falls and ADECA.
