Pleasant Home School’s valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2025 are Nathan Hobbs and Jackson Hawkins, respectively.

Both graduates were grateful to represent their senior class with these academic honors.

“Representing my senior class as valedictorian means a lot to me because being able to be a representative of such a fine group of people shows a lot about who the Pleasant Home Class of 2025 are,” Hobbs said.

“It is a great honor and privilege to honor the senior class at Pleasant Home. It means a lot that I get to represent my fellow classmates and teachers,” Hawkins said.

Hobbs plans to attend LBW Community College on a cross country scholarship in the fall and then transfer to the University of West Florida to major in Electrical Engineering.

“I chose this field because I love my hometown and my school. An engineer is a job that I can succeed in, and it will ensure my children can experience what Pleasant Home is,” he said.

Hawkins also plans to attend LBW Community College on a cross country scholarship in the fall and then transfer to Auburn University to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Both Hobbs and Hawkins agreed that playing sports and building friendships were the two most enjoyable parts of their time at PHS.

“The most enjoyable thing about school is the opportunity to play sports. I have played five of the six sports a male can play and loved being able to experience them,” Hobbs said.

“I would have to say the most enjoyable part was just having friends in every class and just being able to laugh and have fun,” Hawkins said.

While Hobbs and Hawkins are ready to receive their diplomas, they will carry their high school memories with them past graduation.

“The most enjoyable thing to me is also the thing I will miss the most. I will miss being able to play baseball, football, basketball, and track. I loved being an athlete for Pleasant Home and will miss it very much,” Hobbs said.

“I think I will miss the people and all the games and fun times we enjoyed as a class,” Hawkins said.

Both are ready to take on the real world and see what lies ahead in the future.

“I am looking forward to getting a job and being able to work towards building a home. I am excited to save and put my money towards something that will last a long time. In the next five to 10 years, I see myself in a trailer saving up enough money to build a house on a nice property. I will work and save as much as I can in a cheap building until I can build my dream home,” Hobbs said.

“I’m looking forward to being able to change the world and make money. In the next five to 10 years, I see myself graduating from Auburn and starting a family back down here in Andalusia while working at PowerSouth and sending my kids to be fourth-generation students at Pleasant Home,” Hawkins said.

Nathan is the son of Amber Hobbs and grandson of Larry and Kathey Hobbs. He has two siblings, Hunter and Kaitlyn Cobb.

Jackson is the son of Jason and Carrie Hawkins. He has two younger brothers, John Isaac and Jonah.
