A 75-year-old Andalusia man has been charged with sexual assault in the second degree after an encounter in the restroom of a local restaurant earlier this week.

The Andalusia Police Department’s Sgt. Al McGraw said a 12-year-old was at the restaurant with his family when he went to the restroom. He was approached by the older man, who made inappropriate contact and sexual remarks.

The 12-year-old returned to his family as quickly as possible, and the family filed a report with the APD, which led to the investigation and subsequent arrest of Cleo Bedsole, 75, of Andalusia.

Bedsole was arrested Wednesday afternoon and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
