Betty Sue Sasser, a cherished member of the Cedar Grove Community and a lifelong servant of faith at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, passed away peacefully at the age of 90.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2 p.m., at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, located on CR 81 in Andalusia. The family will receive friends at Cedar Grove Baptist Church from 12:30 p.m. until time of the graveside service. Rev. Monroe Sasser will officiate. Steven Sasser will provide the special music. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on Nov. 22, 1934, Betty Sue was the firstborn daughter of the late A.C. and Ovie B. Sasser. Her life was a testament to quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community.

At the age of 18, Betty Sue began her career at Andalusia Alatax, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 1997. Her strong work ethic and dependable nature was poured into all she did. But it was her life outside of work that touched so many.

Her hands were rarely still — crocheting, quilting, sewing and baking with her sister. She brought comfort and great joy to others with these self-taught talents. Afghan blankets she knitted, and quilts she stitched, were handcrafted with abundant affection and can be found in the homes of friends and family near and far.

A devoted aunt, Betty Sue was lovingly known to her nieces and nephews — Kristi Sasser, Mary Sasser Owens (David), Stephanie Sasser Denmark (Adam), Martha Sasser, Amanda Blaine Sasser, William Monroe Sasser Jr., Steven Sasser (Jessica), and Chase Sasser (Jennifer) — as a gentle soul who offered unwavering love. She also leaves behind 10 grandnieces and nephews, all who will carry on the legacy of her kindness and nurturing spirit.

She is survived by her siblings, William Monroe Sasser (Connie), Jewel Sasser, and Wayne Sasser (Betty), who will forever cherish the bonds held with their older sister.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil Sasser, Donnie R. Sasser (Jo), and Steve E. Sasser, whose memories she held close throughout her life.

Those who knew Betty Sue will remember her as kind, soft spoken, and meek-hearted, but above all, a faithful servant who loved deeply and gave selflessly. She lived a life of devotion, defined by compassion and grace. She was the heart of her family, and a cherished aunt, sister, and friend.

Though her absence will be deeply felt, the goodness of her life will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

Betty Sue Sasser will be dearly missed.

Serving as pallbearers are: Will Sasser, Steven Sasser, Chase Sasser, Adam Denmark, Ethan Pope, and Brenden Douglas.
