In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and patriotism, the Old Three Notch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) proudly recognized 22 Covington County high school seniors who have made the honorable decision to enlist in the United States military following graduation.

The recognition took place during Senior Awards Day ceremonies at each of the local high schools, where the DAR members personally honored these brave young men and women for their commitment to serve the nation. Each student received a note of thanks and a prayer for their protection as they embark on this significant journey.

In addition to the notes, the enlistees were presented with a red, white, and blue cord to adorn their graduation robe — a visible symbol of their service and dedication. They were also gifted with a pocket flag, a small but meaningful token to carry with them as they begin their military careers.

“We are deeply proud of these students and their choice to defend our freedoms,” said Barbara Clark, a representative from the Old Three Notch DAR chapter. “It is our honor to acknowledge their service and to offer our support and prayers as they step into this noble calling.”

This annual tribute by the DAR reflects a longstanding tradition of honoring military service and supporting young patriots as they begin their journeys in the armed forces. The red, white, and blue cords seen during graduation ceremonies will serve as a visual reminder to classmates and the community of the courage and sacrifice these students are prepared to make.

The Old Three Notch Chapter remains committed to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting those who serve — and these graduates now join a proud legacy of young Americans dedicated to those very ideals.
