Work on Veteran’s Memorial Pool in Opp has officially finished in time for the pool to open to the public on Wednesday, May 28.

Opening day admission will be free of charge. Beginning Thursday, May 29, regular pool operations and pricing will resume with entry set at $1 per person.

“We appreciate the community’s patience during the renovation process. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pool this summer,” Director of Opp Parks and Recreation Britt Wilson said.

The pool is located at Veterans Memorial Park 200 at the corner of Park Ave. and Whaley St. in Opp. Four highly-trained lifeguards and a pool manager are present at all times. Swimming lessons begin in June and are free to anyone wishing to conquer the art of swimming.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The pool is closed on Sunday.
