Blueberries are ripening on the bush and a team of workers and planners is making final preparations for the annual Alabama Blueberry Festival on Saturday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the event each June and begins planning almost as soon as the festival ends.
Judy Crane, executive director for the Chamber, said area vendors and participants for the 2025 festival need to keep a few deadlines in mind for the event.
“We do have some vendor spaces remaining, but none with electricity,” Crane said. “Those interested in a space should contact the Chamber office to reserve a space before they are gone.”
The deadline for ordering the annual bucket of blueberry ice cream has been extended until Friday, June 6, Crane said.
“We will also be taking pre-orders for this year’s t-shirt as well,” Crane said. “Pre-orders for t-shirts and ice cream must be placed and paid for by the end of business on Friday, June 6.”
Crane said festival organizers are still working on entertainment for the day. Anyone interested in performing on the Blueberry Festival stage should contact the Chamber as soon as possible. Once the lineup is completed, no other performers can join the list.
Crane said a special thanks goes out to Georgia-Pacific for sponsoring the Kids Area, allowing a fun time for children at no cost. Other sponsorship opportunities are available until the festival week.
Also returning for the 2025 Festival is the antique/classic car show. The annual event will once again feature a car show complete with prizes and awards in the afternoon. Registration for the event will begin at 7 a.m. on festival day with awards and prize presentations beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Registration fee is $25 per vehicle. Awards will be presented for Top 30, Best of Chamber Choice (12), and Judge’s Choice awards.
For more information, contact car show organizer Rodney Butts at 251-238-1485 or the Brewton Chamber of Commerce at 251-867-3224.
The festival will be held at Jennings Park near downtown Brewton.
