The Alabama Sports Writers Association recently released its 2025 All-State softball teams with five players from three Covington County schools being recognized.
All-State teams are compiled through submissions from coaches to sportswriters across the state and voted on by the ASWA prep committee. The organization selects a player, pitcher, hitter, and coach of the year in each of the AHSAA’s seven classifications and in the AISA.
Andalusia junior pitcher Kailey Jackson was selected to the Class 5A First Team.
Jackson appeared in 40 games for the Lady Bulldogs and finished the season with a .398 batting average, 33 runs scored, four home runs, 29 RBI’s, 19 walks, and 29 stolen bases in 29 attempts. Jackson also went 28-9 with a save in the circle and compiled a 1.51 earned run average in 186 innings with 192 strikeouts.
Andalusia junior infielder Taya Newton was named to the Class 5A Second Team.
Newton appeared in 40 games for the Lady Bulldogs and finished the season with a .519 batting average, 66 runs scored, 12 home runs, 35 RBI’s, 25 walks, and 39 stolen bases in 42 attempts. Newton also went 2-1 in the circle and compiled a 3.44 earned run average in 18 1/3 innings with 26 strikeouts.
Florala eighth grade pitcher Paige Musso was selected to the Class 1A First Team.
Musso appeared in 27 games for the Lady Wildcats and finished the season with a .481 batting average, 42 runs scored, two home runs, 35 RBI’s, 19 walks, and 20 stolen bases in 23 attempts. Musso also went 12-4 in the circle and compiled a 4.20 earned run average in 108 1/3 innings with 166 strikeouts.
Opp senior outfielder Jaidyn Ivey was named to the Class 4A Second Team.
Ivey appeared in 42 games for the Lady Bobcats and finished the season with a .416 batting average, 45 runs scored, two home runs, 32 RBI’s, 24 walks, and 30 stolen bases in 33 attempts.
Opp senior utility player Addison Moseley received recognition on the Class 4A Honorable Mention.
Moseley appeared in 44 games for the Lady Bobcats and finished the season with a .341 batting average, 20 runs scored, one home run, 31 RBI’s, nine walks, and five stolen bases in five attempts. Moseley also went 19-5 in the circle and compiled a 1.19 earned run average in 129 innings with 198 strikeouts, five shutouts, two no-hitters, and a perfect game.
