Everyone loves a parade, and you’re invited to be part of a big one this Independence Day.
The Old Three Notch Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution is once again hosting Andalusia’s festive July 4th Parade. This year promises to be even more exciting as it kicks off the 250th celebration of our nation’s history.
There’s no admission fee and everyone is welcome to participate. This is truly a community event for all ages. Whether you’re riding on a float, walking with a group, or cheering from the sidewalks your presence helps bring the streets of Andalusia to life with patriotic pride.
Last year’s parade drew over more than 90 creative and patriotic entries, and organizers are hoping to top that number this year.
“It’s a time to come together as neighbors and celebrate the freedoms we share, honoring the past while looking ahead to the future. If you’ve never been in a parade before, this is the perfect chance to jump in and be part of a beloved local tradition,” said Regent Carol-Ann Mullins.
Entries are invited to decorate their car/truck, golf cart, motorcycle, bicycle, boat or just dress up in red, white, and blue and come be part of the fun.
Whether you’re a local business, civic group, church, or just a proud American, this is your chance to show off your patriotic spirit and creativity. Entries big and small are welcome.
Kids, pets, and families are encouraged to participate, and spectators are sure to enjoy the festive sights and sounds. Let your imagination shine with streamers, banners, music, and flags; the more red, white, and blue, the better!
Line-up begins at 9 a.m. in the First Baptist Church parking lot, and the parade rolls out at 10 a.m. sharp. The route has been extended this year to roll around the town square. Everyone is encouraged to help fill the parade route.
The parade is sponsored by the Old Three Notch Chapter NSDAR proudly serving Covington County since 1957.
The Old Three Notch Chapter NSDAR would like to thank Mayor Earl Johnson, the city public works teams, the police department, the fire department, and the sheriff department for providing structural support for the parade. To help keep this patriotic tradition alive and growing, the chapter is gratefully accepting donations or sponsorships.
Wave your flags, bring the kids, and come celebrate the spirit of freedom and community. Let’s make this July 4th a day to remember!
