GALLERY: Andalusia Health Services awards grants to 10 local non-profits

Andalusia Health Services, Inc., a private foundation, recently donated a total of $50,000 to non-profit organizations.
The funds were awarded to 10 organizations, including the Andalusia Lions Club, Bethesda House, Easter Seals Camp ASCCA, the Covington County Child Advocacy Center, Crossover Ministry, Embrace Alabama Kids, Full Tummy Project of Covington County, LBW Community College, Meredith’s Miracles, and Sav-A-Life of Covington County.
“We are proud to continue the legacy of the founders of Andalusia Health Services. For the fiscal year ending June 30, Health Services will contribute $150,500 to education institutions for Covington County students seeking careers in varied medical skills,” Andalusia Health Services Board President Phillip Jones said.
Andalusia Health Services is a non-profit organization that presents community grants and scholarships to Covington County residents pursuing careers in the health services field. Funding for the grants and scholarships originates from investments from the sale of Andalusia Hospital in 1980.
Andalusia Health Services board officers and directors are Phillip Jones, president; Charles Roland, vice president; Carolyn M. Graham, secretary/treasurer; Cathy Alexander, Wayne Bennett, Ivan Bishop, Diaon Cook, Chrissie Duffy, Joe Proctor, and Elizabeth Starr.
The Andalusia Health Services nominating committee includes Cathy Alexander, chair; Diaon Cook, Charles Roland, and Elizabeth Starr.
The finance committee includes Phillip Jones, Ivan Bishop, Carolyn M. Graham, Chrissie Duffy, and Wayne Bennett.
The Andalusia Health Services scholarship committee includes Shirley Smith, chair; Ziba Anderson, Regina Bass, Ted Watson, and Jana Wyatt.
“The total contributions for health related scholarships and charitable organizations rendering healthcare services will total $200,500,” Jones added.
