The Pilot Club of Andalusia installed new officers and board members for 2025-2026 during its monthly meeting on Monday, June 23, at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce.
Shauna Robertson, the immediate past president, presided over the induction ceremony. Robertson, who has been a Pilot since April 2007, reflected on the club’s success during her term.
“The 2024-2025 year was a success thanks to each of you. We raised thousands of dollars, donated countless hours of service, volunteered our time, and mentored the next generation of Pilots. Together, we are a team and a family, making a meaningful impact in our community. I am incredibly grateful and blessed to be part of an organization that does more, cares more, and strives to be more,” Robertson said.
As part of the Pilot Club’s tradition, Robertson will serve for one more year on the Board of Directors.
Mellisa King, who has been a Pilot since 2008, will succeed Robertson as president. In this role, King will prepare agendas and preside over all club meetings and ensure members stay informed about district and Pilot International communications.
“I am incredibly honored to serve as President of the Pilot Club of Andalusia for the upcoming year,” King said. “This club has meant so much to me personally and professionally over the past 17 years. I’m excited to step into this leadership role with a heart full of gratitude and purpose.”
King added that the club’s mission, particularly its work promoting brain health, supporting caregivers, and uplifting those in need is crucial toward the success of the organization.
“The Pilot Club’s mission of service, especially our work promoting brain health, supporting caregivers, and uplifting those in need, is more important than ever. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated members to continue impactful projects like BrainMinders, Pick-Me-Ups, and outreach to local senior and youth communities.”
King, who is the executive director at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, expressed her appreciation for the club’s members.
“We are more than just a service organization,” she said. “We are a team, and we are family. The support and commitment of our members make everything we do possible. Together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”
Carolyn Davis, a Pilot since 1975 and recognized for 50 years of service, was chosen as the new president-elect. The president-elect’s role is to assist the president and step in to lead meetings when necessary.
Renee Maio, who joined the Pilot Club in January 2018, was elected as the new secretary. The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate minutes of meetings, maintaining current records, and working with the treasurer to ensure timely submission of member dues.
Mary Claire Thomasson, a Pilot for 17 years, was appointed the new treasurer. Thomasson was named 2024-2025 Pilot of the Year during the May meeting at the Blue Bird Coffee Company. As treasurer, she will manage the club’s finances, receive and disburse funds, and submit dues to Pilot International and the district treasurer.
Four individuals were elected to the Pilot Club’s Board of Directors. Board members play an essential role in fostering unity within the club, promoting good attendance, and encouraging active participation in club activities.
Saundra Ellis, a Pilot since 2023, and Shannon Hudson, a Pilot since 2020, will serve two-year terms.
Janice Langston, a Pilot since July 2018, and Maggie Mash, a Pilot since January 2016, will complete the remainder of their current terms.
Betty Davis, a Pilot since August 2022, and Angie Kelley, a Pilot since 1986, were recognized for their dedication and service as outgoing officers.
The newly elected officers will serve one-year terms beginning Tuesday, July 1. The next monthly meeting of the Pilot Club will be held on Monday, July 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce.
“I warmly invite anyone interested in service, fellowship, and making a positive impact to join us. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce. We’d love to have you with us,” King said.
