The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the LBW POWER Center in conjunction with its grand opening on Tuesday, June 24.
POWER is an acronym for Professional Opportunities for Workforce Education and Readiness.
Among those in attendance were LBW Director of Workforce Development Chad Sutton, cutting the ribbon; LBW President Brock Kelley, LBW Dean of Student Affairs Jason Jessie, LBW Director of Student and Community Engagement Katie King, LBW Director of Student Success Tori Norris, City Clerk John Thompson, Councilman Presley Boswell, Councilman Joe Nix, Chamber President Ginny Grimes, Chamber Board Member Michelle Wunsh, and Andalusia Public Library Director Sara Mixson.
Located at 143 N. Cotton St., the newly renovated facility is dedicated to empowering the community through adult education and workforce development programs.
The Andalusia City Council approved a lease agreement with LBW for the use of the old Covington Casket Company building during a meeting held in March.
