My name is Darren Forry, and I’m honored to officially announce my candidacy for Andalusia City Council, representing District 5. For nearly 20 years, my family and I have proudly called this district home. We’ve built our lives here, grown deep roots, and invested ourselves in the people and the community we love.
My journey of service began with our youth. For over 15 years, I’ve been involved in leading and supporting various youth programs. It’s been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life—mentoring, encouraging, and building relationships with the next generation. Our young people are the future of Andalusia, and they deserve strong role models, safe spaces, and a city that believes in them.
Professionally, I bring a financial background that spans across multiple sectors. I led loan origination teams for both PHH Mortgage and Freedom Mortgage before relocating to Alabama. Here, I continued my career as a licensed banker and branch manager at several Wells Fargo and Wachovia locations. Most recently, I’ve worked as an independently contracted property inspector. Through each role, I’ve gained the experience and knowledge to understand budgets, accountability, and the value of making smart, forward-thinking decisions with taxpayer dollars.
One thing I’ve come to understand deeply is that strong communities don’t just happen—they’re built intentionally. They’re built on shared values like respect, fairness, hard work, and compassion. That’s the foundation of my vision: supporting our youth, strengthening families, and ensuring that no one is left behind—regardless of age, race, gender, or ability.
Everyone deserves to have a voice. Whether you’re a working parent, a senior citizen, a young adult just starting out, or someone living with a disability—your experiences and concerns matter. I believe leadership should reflect and listen to the people it serves.
Transparency is one of the key reasons I’m running. Too many residents feel disconnected from how decisions are made, especially regarding finances like city debt, public projects, and spending. That’s not acceptable. As your representative, I will advocate for open, honest, and accessible communication. You deserve to know where your money is going, what’s being prioritized, and why.
District 5 is, in my eyes, one of the most beautiful areas not just in Andalusia, but in the county and beyond. It’s a perfect place for growing families, with great potential for affordable housing and infrastructure improvements. I’d love to see fiber optic internet expansion prioritized in our district and Dream Park restored to its former glory.
But more than anything, I’m here to listen. This campaign—and this council seat—is not about me. It’s about serving you and being a voice for your concerns, your hopes, and your ideas. I welcome every conversation and every perspective.
Together, let’s build a stronger, more transparent, and united Andalusia—starting right here in District 5.
