When I was asked to write this article and share a story related to my faith, I was at a loss of what to write. I realized I should go back to the beginning.

Rev. Timothy Morgan

I was raised in Southside Baptist Church back when it was on Carlton Street in Andalusia. I was born again at the ripe age of seven. I had several great Bible teachers who taught me to love the Word of God.

When I was 15, I walked down the aisle of my church, took my pastor by the hand, and told him and the entire church that I was called to the ministry.

I graduated from Andalusia High School in 1980 and got married in 1984. I informed my wife that I was called to the ministry. Eventually, we moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where we both attended and graduated from Rhema Bible Training College, an intense training ground for prospective ministers. This training ground was the catalyst that propelled us into the ministry and laid the foundation for what would become Andalusia Bible Church, which we founded in 1997.

That’s not the story I want you to see. What I want you to see is the result of following your spirit in whatever you are called to do.

Remember I was called to the ministry when I was 15, but I did not make a serious move toward that calling until 1989. I was 27 when we finally decided to move nearly 900 miles away from home to attend Bible School and be trained.

Long before we left for Oklahoma, I worked at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers in Andalusia. I recall one day walking across the mill floor and thinking, “This has nothing to do with life or death. I making yarn for carpet for people to walk on.”

I now understand I was sensing that call again on my heart for ministry. During that time, we were introduced to Kenneth E. Hagin through one of his books “Concerning Spiritual Gifts.” As I read, the words seemed to jump off the page and into my heart. I had to know more about him and his ministry.

We discovered that Kenneth E. Hagin was the founder of Rhema Bible Training College. Although we had never heard of him, Wanda and I felt drawn to this ministry and decided to apply for admission. While waiting to be accepted, we made a trip to Oklahoma to visit the campus.

I will never forget the moment my foot stepped onto the curb in the parking lot. I immediately knew we were supposed to be there. It’s difficult to explain the feeling, but I knew it was right, good, and ordained of God.

We visited the admissions office and introduced ourselves to the gracious and kind staff. While there, we were told our applications had been accepted. We were ready to attend and begin our journey towards full-time ministry.

That was over 30 years ago and only the beginning of our story, but I pray it encourages you to know that no matter what you are called to do, God will make a way.

You may be called to the five-fold ministry, business, medicine, or a multitude of different things, but if it’s God calling you, pursue His plan and will for your life. He will make a way.
