The Opp Police Department has charged a Marianna, Fla., man with manslaughter in the Dec. 17, 2017, death of an Andalusia man.

Samuel Valasco Lopez was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang that collided with a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage around 5:58 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2017.

Lopez was travelling southbound in a northbound lane near Hwy. 52 and Perry Store Road, causing the head-on collision that claimed the life of 27-year-old Trevor Scott Smith.

After further investigation, law enforcement officials determined that Lopez was under the influence of alcohol.

Lopez is being held on a $500,000 bond.
