“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which Christ the Lord.”

The local community will have the opportunity to take a walk through Bethlehem and get a glimpse of how things might have been during the birth of Jesus.

Opp’s Westview Baptist Church will hold its “A Ride to Bethlehem” this weekend.

It is held near a pond on church property and was a vision of music director Roger McLain’s.

For the last two years, the church has operated using their new set-up, which includes the scene where Mary and Joseph are turned away from the inn, and then the manger scene.

Henry the camel, a perennial nativity star, along with donkeys and sheep, add to the authenticity of the scene.

“Everyone is welcome to come,” McLain said. “It’s free and it’s a gift to the county.”

McLain said the event will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., each night and will lost approximately 20 to 30 minutes for the entire program.
