Weekend accidents claim 2 lives

The two people involved in weekend crashes in Covington County have died.

Rona Edson and Antonio Presley were injured in separate accidents and transferred to Florida medical centers where they died from injuries.

Edson, a Red Level resident, was injured in a Saturday sport utility vehicle crash.

Edson, who suffered severe internal injuries, was airlifted to a Pensacola, Fla., hospital, and later, a Gainesville, Fla., trauma center. She passed away late Tuesday afternoon. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foreman Funeral Home.

In a Friday night accident, Antonio Presley of McKenzie was ejected following a three-vehicle collision on Ala. Hwy. 55 near Red Level.

Presley died from his injuries Tuesday night while at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Presley was traveling southbound in a 1991 Chevy when his vehicle crossed the center line and sideswiped two vehicles headed back from a Florida beach trip. The vehicle flipped several times, and Presley was ejected.

As of press time, his funeral arrangements were not available.
