Former Florala Utilities manager Lynn Hughes was jailed Thursday by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation for theft and using her position for personal gain.grains

Hughes, 52, was placed into custody and booked into the Covington County Jail under a $120,000 bond.

Hughes was terminated earlier this month for insubordination.

For weeks, the board has discussed how to proceed after discovering accounting discrepancies.

Last week and at the request of the utilities board and the Florala Police Department, ABI launched a formal investigation.

Trooper Kevin Cook, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety and ABI, said no further information is available as ABI continues to investigate allegations of misappropriated Florala utilities accounts.
