Local runs are soon

Andalusia’s Coterie Club will hold its annual 5K and kids’ “Fun Run” on Oct. 20.

Registration will be held on Fri., Oct. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at city hall, or the day of the race beginning at 7 a.m.

The race is for all ages and starts at 9 a.m. in front of the First United Methodist Church. At 10 a.m., the club will host the Meredith’s Mile for children ages 3-16, starting in the CCB parking lot. Then, at 10;30 a.m., the Tot Trot will be held behind city hall for children ages 0-4.

Registration fees are as follows: 5K pre-race $12, day of race $15; Meredith’s Mile pre-race $10, day of race $12; and the Tot Trot is free.

The Scarecrows in the Park 5K race will be held on Sat., Nov. 10, at Frank Jackson State Park at 8:30 a.m. The race is sponsored by the Opp Rotary Club.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. the day of the race. There will be a fun run for kids at the end of the race.

Pre-registration for the race ends Nov. 2, which is $25 and that includes a T-shirt. Registration is $25 on the day of the race and one can buy a shirt if they are available.

The 5K trail run will commence near the boat landing and a multitude of different awards will be given out.

All proceeds from the race will go to help the Opp Rotary Club for community projects, scholarship program, opportunity house, Girls Incorporate, Boy Scouts, Literacy Center, dictionary project, Camp Ascca, the downtown redevelopment authority, Cross Over Ministry, Coaches Retreat and other civic and youth projects.
