Outgoing Opp City Councilman Scotty Short has been appointed to represent his city on the South Alabama Regional Airport Authority Board of Directors.

Short, who did not seek reelection, will replace current Opp board member and SARA chairman Wesley Laird on Nov. 1.

The South Alabama Regional Airport Authority announced the appointment in a press release earlier this week.

“I am very thankful and appreciative for the success that we have had at our airport. It is a great example of how a community can come together and work united for the good of everyone,” Laird said. “I truly believe that our airport is the future of our community.”

Short is a licensed general contractor.
