Straughn’s Lady Tigers finished in fifth place at the St. James Tip Off Tournament this weekend in Montgomery.

SHS beat Providence Christian 55-45 and Enterprise 48-33 on Saturday, following a season-opening 51-40 loss to St. James on Thursday.

The loss to the Lady Trojans garnered Straughn’s fifth place finish, despite finishing 2-1 for the tournament.

Brittany Driver led SHS with 30 points, and Jacie Williamson added 11 points to pace the Lady Tigers.

“We really moved the ball well on offense,” SHS coach Scott Kinsaul said. “We had good defense. That was probably our best game.”

Driver scored 15 points, and Katelyn Kinsaul and Williamson had 12 points each to help lead the Lady Tigers to the win.

Straughn led by 20 at the start of the fourth period.

The Lady Tigers used the big lead to work on their zone plays, Kinsaul said.

Driver led with 15 points and Kinsaul added 14 in the Lady Tigers’ opening loss.

“I don’t think we played real well,” Kinsaul said. “St. James had a lot to do with that.”

The Lady Tigers will be back in action Nov. 19-21 for their annual Thanksgiving basketball tournament.
