County buys 2+ acre lot at PHS

There could be some future expansion at Pleasant Home School as the county school board recently closed on a nearly 3 acre parcel behind the school.

Property records show the board purchased the 2.79-acre site from Mary Clyde Douglas for $69,900. The triangular-shaped parcel is located behind the current campus and faces Eagle Road.

Superint-endent Terry Holley said Tuesday the purchase is a good investment for the board.

“We’ve kind of run out of room on the (PHS) campus,” Holley said. “We purchased this land to see what we can do with it in the future. You never know what might become available on down the road.

“Pleasant Home is a growing community,” he said. “And any time land becomes available near any of our schools, we take a look at things and see if it fits into our long range plan. This is a nice addition for the board.”

Enrollment numbers submitted to the state education department show enrollment at PHS is steadily growing. This year, 566 students were enrolled in August at PHS.
