DALLAS DENFORD RATHEL

Dallas Denford Rathel, 76, of Dozier, died Tues., Dec. 4, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., Dec. 7, from Foreman Funeral Home with interment following in Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Rathel; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Carl Ham, all of Dozier; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Keith and Connie Rathel of Huntsville; grandchildren, Haden Rathel, Mary Hardin Rathel; Emily Ham (Trey) Price and Dallas Ham; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernie and Edna Rathel of California, Donald Rathel of Phenix City and Dwight and Patsy Rathel of Red Level; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Joe Watkins of Andalusia and Dorothy and Robert Dean of Dozier.

HUEY FAYE AUGHTMAN

Huey Faye Aughtman, 83, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Dec. 4, 2012, in Andalusia Regional Hospital.

MISSY MOORE

Missy Moore, 45, of Elba, passed away Sun., Dec. 2, 2012, in a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 6, at First Baptist Church of New Brockton with Keahey Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Nathan S. Sims officiating and interment following in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at First Baptist Church of New Brockton. Survivors include her husband, David Moore; sons, Russell (Keisha) Moore and Cory Moore, all of Elba;; daughters, Amanda (Rodney) Casey of Brundidge and Samantha Moore of Elba; and one grandchild, Rylee Casey of Brundidge.

 

ALMA JEAN POLLARD

Jean Carter Pollard, 85, passed away Mon., Dec. 3, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous fight with cancer.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Fri., Dec. 7, in the chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Miss. Interment will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, Miss.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to Friday’s service at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1927, to Willie Ray and Bessie Mae Carter in Andalusia. She graduated from Andalusia High School in 1946 where she was a cheerleader.

Soon after graduating high school, she married Bob Pollard in 1947. Eventually settling in Jackson, and making the reservoir their home, the couple opened Capital Menswear in Jackson, Miss., and Pearl, Miss., and the Sansabelt Store in Northpark Mall.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family with all of her heart and was loved by everyone she knew.

Having all of her family and friends around her gave her the greatest joy. She loved to entertain and make sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. She lived out the true meaning of the phrase, “It’s better to give than to receive.”

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Carter, Bob Carter and Al Carter; and sister, Betty Greene.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Bob Pollard; daughter, Kathy Martin and husband, Ron, of Brandon; son, Mike Pollard, and wife, Brenda, of Pearl; three grandsons, Justin Martin, and wife, Marisa, of Tupelo, Miss.; Josh Martin and wife, Beth, of Brandon; and Michael Pollard of Pearl; one great-grandson, Ridley Martin of Tupelo, Miss.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grace Shumaker, Sta-Home Health and Hospice, nurse Mia Thompson, and Liz Gilmer for the love and care shown during this time.

HAZEL PEACOCK ALDERMAN

Hazel Peacock Alderman, 89, of Montgomery, formerly of the Pleasant Home Community, passed away Sun., Dec. 2, 2012, in a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 4, at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Kelley officiating, and interment following in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Robert D. “Bob” Alderman of Tuscaloosa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Alderman.
