The victim of Thursday’s shooting in Loango is expected to make a full recovery.

Chief Deputy David Anderson said Friday the investigation into the shooting of 68-year-old Gerald Palmer by his girlfriend, 54-year-old Catherine M. Syman-owski, is ongoing.

“Invest-igators have said Mr. Palmer is now listed in ‘stable’ condition,” Anderson said. “They continue to investigate what led up the day’s shooting.”

The incident was described as a “domestic gone wrong.” When deputies arrived at the Palmer Lane home around 1 p.m., the two were found just inside the front door. Palmer suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Symanowski, who was also suffered a gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene. An Andalusia resident, Symanowski was on parole for a 1989 murder in Randolph County, where a court staff member said she remembered the case well.

“It was a bad case,” the clerk said. “I remember it well. She killed her boyfriend, stood trial for it and was convicted. Wow. I can’t believe it happened again.”

Symanowski was paroled in 2002 and had completed 10 years of parole successfully until Thursday’s shooting.
