HILDA WARD CARTER

Hilda Ward Carter, 87, of Dothan, formerly of the Babbie Community, passed away at her residence Sat., Jan. 5, 2013.

She was born in River Falls on Dec. 22, 1925, to John O. Ward and Minnie Florence Bozeman Ward. She married Clinton “Pete” Carter in 1947 who was a member of the U.S. Army, and the two traveled many places with their family as he served his military career. They eventually settled in the Babbie Community, where she lived for more than 50 years before moving to Dothan.

She was a former owner of the C & B Florist in Opp.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today, Tues., Jan. 8, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Seay officiating and interment following in Babbie Baptist Church Cemetery. Special music during the funeral service will be by Kay Hicks.

Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her son, Paul C. (Vickie) Carter of Dothan; her grandchildren, Wendy Zigler, Lauren Carter and Caroline Carter; and her great-grandchildren, Drew and Devin Coon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton “Pete” Carter, and her son, James P. Carter.

Pallbearers will be Craig Boutwell, Jared Boutwell, Hunter Boutwell and Justin Curry

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Babbie Baptist Church building fund or the Ridgecrest Baptist Church building fund in Dothan.

MAKAYLA KAY THOMPSON

Makayla Kay Thompson, 15, of Milton, Fla., passed away Jan. 6, 2013.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 10, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, followed by a 2 p.m. service at Hopewell Baptist Church in Andalusia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

She was born in Enterprise and resided in the Milton, Fla., area for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Johnny Burl Dubose.

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Tegina Hinson; three brothers, Kyle, Gage and Colt Hinson; grandparents, David and Sherry Dubose and Johnny and Nelda Hinson; maternal great-grandmother, Emma Ruth Dubose, maternal great-grandmother, Betty Sue Johnson; and maternal great-grandfather, Everett Bleichroth.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dubose, Shon Dubose, Brian Deily, Keith White, Mike Sasser and Fred Hetherington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Hinson, Johnny Dubose, Lee Rackard, Chris Shaner, and Torrey Johnson.

 

FERRELL RAY JOHNSON

Ferrell Ray Johnson, 69, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Jan. 5, 2013, in a Crestview, Fla., hospital.

Graveside services were held Mon., Jan. 7, at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Darby officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his children, Jason Norris of Elba, Tracy Norris of Opp and Justin Andrew King of Red Level.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Mary Lundy Johnson, and a half-brother, Harris Johnson.

Pallbearers were members of the Alabama State Troopers.

DONNIE RAY WALKER

Donnie Ray Walker, 56, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 10, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Butler, Pastor Robert Canant and Pastor Ray Miles officiating, and interment following in the Walker family cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6-8 at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Walker; his daughter, Kaye Walker, both of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Shelby Smith, Logan Cook, and Morgan Cook; his mother, Alice N. Walker of Andalusia; brothers and sister-in-law, Arthur and Theresa Walker and Audrey Walker of Andalusia; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Donnie Rogers of Florala, Carol and Steve Morgan, Sandra Simmons and Susan Walker Chappell of Andalusia; and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Van Walker Sr., and brother, Willie Van Walker Jr.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Grant, Shawn Grant, Matt Grant, Nick Upton, Glen Gunter and Chris Wilson.
