Eight teams are competing in Opp’s junior varsity softball tournament, which starts today.

Tournament action begins in pool play today with teams from Pool A. Pool B teams will play in their pool on Saturday.

After pool play is over with tomorrow, then the tournament will shift to single elimination play.

Kinston, Pleasant Home, Florala and Opp are in Pool A. Ariton, Andalusia, Straughn and Geneva County are in Pool B.

Today’s action starts at 4:30 p.m. with Kinston play Florala, and Opp playing Pleasant Home. The 6 p.m. games include Florala vs. Opp, and Pleasant Home vs. Kinston.

Andalusia faces Straughn, and Ariton plays Geneva County at 9 a.m. tomorrow to start Pool B play. The 10:30 games are Straughn against Ariton, Geneva County against Andalusia.

Single elimination play begins at noon. The championship is slated for 5 p.m.
