Straughn senior forward Brittany Driver was selected to the Alabama Sports Writers Association Girls Class 3A All-State basketball team.

Driver helped lead the Lady Tigers to their first state tournament appearance since the 1995-96 season. She was crowned the South Regional MVP in Dothan after a 48-41 victory over Opp in the finals.

This season, she averaged 17.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this season, where her team went on a 22-game win streak.

Driver shot 50 percent from the field in her senior year, and was 62 percent from the free throw line.

In her team’s 67-9 area tournament win over Excel, Driver scored her 1,000th career point.

The Straughn stand out joins other first team members Chatara Cox of Lauderdale County; Daneshia Malone of Clements; Taylor Terry of Holly Pond; and Malesha Williams of Greensboro.

On the boys All-State team, Pleasant Home point guard Lance Davis, and Red Level guard K.J. Lawrence were selected as honorable mentions.
