District 4 resident Tony Blan said Monday night he’s “fed up” with motorists with loud music keeping him awake at all hours of the night.

Blan said there are three to four motorists in his area who continuously blast their radios “from sun up to sun down.”

“This has been going on for five years,” he said. “We call the police, and they quiet down for a few days, maybe a few weeks and then it starts again.”

Blan said the music is so loud that it penetrates the walls.

“The current system is not working,” he said. “I’m asking you to consider a ban on car stereos (that aren’t standard) in the city limits.”

Blan said he is just wants to get some peace.

“Opp is a nice, quiet place to live, except where I live,” he said. “I have been awakened from a complete sleep. I’m fed up. I pray you will consider it.”

Opp Mayor John Bartholomew said this is included in the loud noise ordinance that went into effect earlier this month.

Councilman T.D. Morgan said the citation for violation of the noise ordinance is $174.50.
