Andalusia livened the game up a little bit in the second half, scoring its only goal in a 1-0 victory over the Enterprise JV on Monday night in soccer action.

The Bulldogs ended the first half in a 0-0 tie against a talented and well-coached Wildcats team.

AHS was playing out of sorts on the field, where it only had one shot on goal in the first half.

Hiren Patel got things going right for the Bulldogs (12-1) early in the second half with his team’s only goal of the match.

“Enterprise is a very, very well-coached team,” AHS coach Tim Ramsden said. “They have a tremendous amount of talent on that team. They didn’t bring one varsity player with them, so it’s obvious that they have a lot of talent.

“Two wins against them means a lot,” he said.

Last week, the Bulldogs received a good piece of news on the Class 1A-4A, Area 2 front. Charles Henderson lost to Houston Academy in area play, and because of the Trojans’ loss, AHS was crowned area champions.

AHS will host the first round of the Class 1A-4A sub-state playoffs on Sat., April 27.

On Monday night, Ramsden said every senior on the team, even the ones who haven’t played much, got to get some action on the field.

“We did what we needed to do and that was two things — win and doing it with all of the team playing,” Ramsden said. “We didn’t play several of the starters tonight. I wanted to rest them.”

Despite the win, Ramsden said the team’s touch wasn’t there also.

“That was the second game in a row after spring break where our touch wasn’t right, and our marking wasn’t right,” he said.

Andalusia will close out area play against CHHS on Friday at 6 p.m. at home.
