Florala ranked in final baseball poll

Florala’s baseball team is ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s final baseball poll of the season.

The Wildcats are No. 9 in Class 1A after defeating McKenzie 24-14 to improve to 15-4 on the season.

FHS hosts Geneva County in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday.

Opp (20-7) stayed at No. 9 Class 3A, despite falling to G.W. Long 10-1 on Monday night.

OHS faces Bayside Academy in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday.

Andalusia, in Class 4A, was nominated, but not ranked. The Bulldogs are 28-8-1, and host sixth-ranked UMS-Wright in the first round.

Opp’s softball team (18-6)­ was knocked out of the top 10 after it fell to unranked Excel and Straughn in the last week.

Pleasant Home is still No. 4 in Class 1A in the softball poll.
