Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clarence Bass III of Andalusia are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Clara Marjorie, to

Matthew Lane Mellown, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ewing Mellown, III of Andalusia.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gene Sellers of Red Level and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clarence Bass Jr. of Andalusia.

She is a 2009 graduate of Andalusia High School. She will graduate magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in communication and information sciences from the University of Alabama in May. Her honors include Capstone Men & Women, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Sorority.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph Lane of Homewood and Dr. and Mrs. William Ewing Mellown Jr. of Prattville.

He is a 2007 graduate of Andalusia High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in arts and sciences. He is currently employed with Andalusia City Schools and will graduate magna cum laude with a master of science degree in sport and fitness management from Troy University in December.

The couple will wed on June 1, 2013, at Springdale in Andalusia. Invitations are being sent.
