Florala High School’s Austin McNeill and Kendyl McDaniel are motivated.

The valedictorian and salutatorian have just six-hundredths of a point separating their GPAs.

McNeill, the valedictorian, plans to attend the University of South Alabama and major in mechanical engineering.

He was awarded the JE Scarborough Scholastic athlete award. He was the Bryant-Jordan area and regional winner and the Tubby Hall award.

“I believe I am very self-motivated, and I have always strived to be the best I can be,” he said.

McDaniel, the salutatorian, plans to attend the University of Alabama, but is undecided on her major.

She was awarded the JE Scarborough scholastic award her junior year; and the Tubby Hall award in ninth through 12th.

“When I was younger, my parents motivated me and as I got older it just stuck with me,” she said.

McNeill is the son of Lisa and Archie McNeill and McDaniel is the daughter of Toby and Angie McDaniel.
