Covington County 16-18 teams split with Brewton

Covington County’s 16-18 Babe Ruth baseball squad reached a split decision with Brewton Thursday night in a home twinbill at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

The Covington County Red team lost 8-6 in the first game, while the CC Blue won the night cap, 9-7.

Both games were five-inning affairs.

Brewton took a solid 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but Covington County countered with a two-run double from Brandon Taylor to cut the lead by two runs in game one.

With the game at 8-4 in the last half inning, Covington County’s Johnny Owens hit a sac fly and Taylor Cobb hit an RBI single to get the game-ending score at 8-6.

Hunter Odom led Covington County and went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI; Jacob Norris and Brock Watson hit a single and had an RBI each.

Tyler Joyner went 2-for-3 with a single and an RBI; and T. Peebles went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs to lead Brewton.
