Covington County is hosting the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U Babe Ruth Softball State Tournaments this week at the Dwight Mikel Sports Complex in Andalusia.

Games will kick off on Thursday and will commence through Saturday.

The 10U and 12U age groups, who start on Thursday, will hold the largest number of teams in each with eight, Covington County Babe Ruth Softball President Eric Schwartz said.

“We’re excited about the state tournament,” Schwartz said. “This is the first time that Covington County has been able to host something like this. We’re really hoping and counting on volunteers and helpers to step up and help put on a good show.”
